PVA TALKS

South London-based synth-punk angels PVA have returned today with some big news. The promising party band were on an unstoppable upward trajectory before COVID hit, and despite a number of setbacks including a cancelled trip to the states to play SXSW, the tenacious trio managed to pen a deal during lockdown. Now signed to Ninja Tune offshoot Big Dada (Young Fathers, Kae Tempest and more), 'Talks' is their addictive debut for the label. Lifted from their forthcoming Dan Carey-produced EP Toner, which also features remixes by Mura Masa and Girl Band's Daniel Fox, 'Talks' boasts smooth synths, janky guitars and snappy live drums. Of the new single, producer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Josh Baxter says: “Talks is about how we invent games in order to avoid expressing our true feelings or take the risk of being hurt. The song also takes inspiration from real relationships and the fictional relationship between John & Abigail Marston (the two main characters in video game Red Dead Redemption).” (Brilliant press pic by Lewis Khan.) -Holly Mullineaux
